Design for a series of 20 book covers for Pocket Beletrina, the softback literary imprint of the major Slovene book publisher Beletrina Academic Press. In order to achieve a low production cost, the brief required a simple yet modern design that did not compromise on quality when compared to the hardbacks, as well as an eye-catching brand in bookshops that would appeal to a wider audience.
The brand is thus based on a strict template, placing the author and the title on separate stripes. The colour of the stripe for the author is selected from a colour scheme and repeats on the back. The title is on a separate white stripe. Unlike with the hardbacks, the typography remains the same throughout the series. The artwork consists of a single black-and-white photograph that more-or-less directly reflects the title of the book.
